Ride Xpress Ltd Driver Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern the use of the Ride Xpress platform by Drivers.

Drivers/Taxi are independent contractors and not employees, workers, agents or representatives of Ride Xpress Ltd.

Drivers must maintain valid taxi licences, driving licences, vehicle licences and insurance at all times.

Drivers must ensure vehicles are roadworthy, legally compliant, clean and safe.

Drivers are responsible for maintaining accurate information and protecting account credentials.

Drivers may accept or decline booking requests at their discretion, subject to applicable law and platform policy.

Drivers are responsible for using any fare estimations displayed within the Ride Xpress application strictly as non‑binding guidance. These estimations are not chargeable to passengers and must not be treated as the actual fare.

Drivers must ensure that all fares collected from passengers are accurate, lawful, and correspond to the fare displayed on the Hackney Carriage meter installed in the vehicle, as required and regulated by City of York Council.

Where a journey ends outside the district of the City of York and a fixed‑price pre‑booking has been agreed in advance, drivers may apply the pre‑booked fixed price or charge a lesser amount. In such cases, the Ride Xpress fare estimation may be used as a reference only.

Drivers must not charge passengers any amount higher than the fare shown on the approved Hackney Carriage meter, unless a lawful fixed‑price pre‑booking applies as described above.

Drivers are responsible for maintaining accurate records of fares and journeys in accordance with all applicable licensing laws and regulatory requirements.

Recording of Taxi Fares and Journey Invoices

Drivers are required to accurately enter the total taxi fare charged to the passenger into the Ride Xpress Taxi Finder App at the completion of each journey, when the invoice notification appears within the App.

The fare entered must reflect the actual amount charged, as displayed on the hackney vehicle's taxi meter, in accordance with the applicable Hackney Carriage fare tariffs set by City of York Council.

Exemption for Pre-Agreed Fixed Fares:

This requirement does not apply where Ride Xpress Ltd has arranged and confirmed a fixed fare with the passenger prior to the commencement of the journey for a pre-booked In journey going outside the district of City of York, In such circumstances, the pre-agreed fixed fare shall apply.

Drivers must ensure that all fares entered into the App are accurate and reflect the amounts actually charged to passengers.

Drivers must comply with road traffic laws, prioritise passenger safety, and act professionally at all times, while abiding by the licensing conditions set by the licensing authorities.

Ride Xpress may charge booking, service, subscription, transaction or administration fees to drivers as applicable and advertised.

Ride Xpress holds the right to suspend a driver/Taxi account & may suspend or terminate driver accounts for fraud, misuse, licensing or insurance concerns, or safety issues.

Drivers agree to indemnify Ride Xpress against claims arising from driver negligence, licensing breaches, insurance failures or unlawful conduct.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
